We take a hands-on approach to representation. At Leavitt & Meunier Law LLC, you will meet your lawyer. Either Melanie or Adam will personally handle every aspect of your case including monitoring medical records for issues and working with you to resolve the issues well before the hearing has been scheduled. This will result in fewer problems within the record when it comes time for a judge to hear your case. We are a local law firm familiar with the local Social Security Offices, local hearings offices, local claims representatives, local disability examiners, and local judges in Southern Louisiana and Mississippi. We have been personally representing clients before judges in Alexandria, Houma, Baton Rouge, Metairie, New Orleans, Hattiesburg, and Gulfport for over two decades.
Melanie Leavitt is a graduate of Loyola University School of Law. She has been licensed to practice law since 1984. For the first five years of her legal career, she represented unions, union health and pension funds. Since 1989, she has been representing the disabled regarding Social Security, Short and Long-Term Disability Insurance and State and Federal Employee disability retirement.
Adam Meunier is also a graduate of Loyola University Law School. He has been licensed to practice law since 2002. From 1991 until he was licensed to practice law in 2002, he managed this office, working as a law clerk to analyzing medical records and write legal arguments for appeals. Adam is also authorized to represent disabled veterans before the Veterans Administration.
As Social Security Disability attorneys, we are familiar with all the local district offices, Disability Determination Offices in Louisiana and Mississippi, local community resources such as free health care, mental health providers and local doctors. Out-of-town attorneys farm out cases to local attorneys right before the hearing so the client is left with someone who has no knowledge of the case prior to the hearing. We are different, which is why you should always come to us at our local office.
